FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace
with David Axelrod, Obama's Senior Strategist
Sunday, October 14th, 2012
In this episode of FOX News Sunday, Chris Wallace has David Axelrod, senior strategist for the Obama administration on the show. The two start off discussing the horrible terrorist attack on the four American diplomats in Libya. Wallace begins by showing a clip of vice president Joe Biden claiming that he wasn't aware there were requests for more security in Libya, when there were. He asks David Axelrod to explain. Axelrod says the vice president was talking about what "the White House knew," saying that the information didn't get to past security or the state department to the White House. He assures Wallace that the President's top priority is to get to the bottom of this situation and bring those responsible to justice and make any necessary adjustments to keep America's diplomats safe, considering they are in some of the most dangerous places in the world. The president is responsible for everyone. He says this is not a matter of blaming.
Chris Wallace continues to ask Axelrod if Obama will come more prepared with a more agressive approach at the second presidential debate. He replies by saying Obama will definitely make some adjustments at this next debate, and be agressive in making the case for "where we should go as a country." He will be willing to challenge Romney. Axelrod also adds that the Obama campaign believes Romney's recent progress is result of the first couple of days after his first, successful debate. He ends by saying the Obama campaign feels good, and has a great ground game.
The information in this episode may cause some people to question the integrity of those in office, including Joe Biden because of his statement about being unaware of the security requests in Libya. I could use this information to show how sensitive polls are because of how much Romney's numbers improved after his first debate. This show is as whole takes a Republican stance, criticizing many of Obama and Biden's moves. In the political arena today, Biden's statement in the clip shown could cause a lot of controversy about how situations like the attack in Libya are handled in Washington.

CNN STATE OF THE UNION 10/7
CNN State Of The Union
with Reince Priebus
Sunday, October 7th, 2012
In this episode of State of The Union, Candy Crowley introduces Republican chairman, Peince Priebus onto the show. Crowley brings up "the burden of great expectations," referring to the pressure that may be on the Republican party and vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan after Romney's winning performance at the first presidential debate. Priebus says that Paul Ryan is very prepared and ready. He says Joe Biden may have made some "promlematic" comments in his career, but he is still a very "relatable" man, and "gifted orator." He knows Paul Ryan has dedicated his life to solving America's problems and building a plan for the country's success. In the end he and Biden are two very different people. Candy asks if he thinks it is crucial for Ryan to keep the momentum Romney set up after the first debate. He says they've (the Republican party) has had a good week but it is important that all the weeks to come are good as well.
Referring to Romney, Priebus says he is an inspiring and prepared, and Obama showed the opposite of those things at the first debate. He says if that is Obama unfiltered, he is showing the American people he is not right for the job. He says that just because the unemployment rate is below 8%, doesn't mean the President is really bringing change. Crowley also asks if there has been any talk about a third party threat. Priebus replies without any worry, saying he doesn;t think the election will come to that because there is no third party candidate with the popularity or recognition like that of Ross Perot or John B. Anderson.
The information in this episode show how the Republicans are going about keeping the "momentum" from the first debate. Priebus said "this race isn't going to come down to money," instead it's about heart and inspiration. This shows the more personal side of the Republican campaign. I learned that the unemployment rate is currently below 8%. I could ue the information in this article to portray the sympathy shown by Reince Priebus and potentially some other Republicans. Priebus made a great effort to praise Joe Biden on his great debating skills when talking about Paul Ryan. This show was unbiased. However, Priebus is a Republican and did show how much he really thought Obama's past term was a failure. In the political arena today, some people, especially those who have recently been employed, may be offended when Priebus says bring the unemployment rate below 8% isn't change in our country.

CBS FACE THE NATION 9/30
CBS Face The Nation
Segment with NJ Governor Chris Christie
Sunday, September 30th, 2012
Bob Shieffer starts the show off by introducing New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Shieffer asks a series of questions about why Christie thinks Romney has been having a bad couple of weeks, and how he thinks he'll do in the upcoming debate and the coming weeks before the election. Chris Christie agrees, that Romney has had a tough time the past couple of weeks but he is coming with all he has to the next debate. He says Governor Romney is going to contrast his vision of the nation with what the President has done in his term. Christie says that the debate will give the people of America a chance to answer the question, "who do we trust the most to be in Washington during these times?" When Shieffer asks about the effect of Mitt Romney's 47% comment, Christie says he doesn't think the American people are focusing on it because it was just something Romney said, and continues to compare it to when Barack Obama once misspoke and said there were 57 states in U.S. instead of 50. Christie says that just because of his comment, Romney is still a smart and respectable man.
Shieffer brings up how many seniors in states like Florida and Virginia are upset with the changes that are to be made to healthcare. Christie says that those changes won't affect them, just younger people and people who have just become seniors, but other than that, it should be known that changes will always have to be made. He then says that Obama doesn't talk about this because he is avoiding the truth, and that he's been avoiding the truth for the past four years. Shieffer ends the interview by asking if Christie plans to run for president in 2016. Christie answers by saying that in 2016 he hopes to be working hard under Mitt Romney as president, and repeatedly, "Mitt Romney will win the election."
This episode shows Chris Christie as an example of a committed and dedicated Republican completely behind Mitt Romney. He is passionate that Romney has a strong and promising vision for America and he will most definitely win. I could use this information to show why some states that are home to many seniors are going Democrat because they don;t like the healthcare changes. This show was unbiased. Chris Chris Christie gave his point of views from the Republican side.

"The Debate Over The 47%: The Role Of Government"
Sunday, September 23rd, 2012
On this Sunday Morning, David Gregory meets with Democratic Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick and Kelly Ayotte, junior U.S. Senator of the Republican party. The two were on the show mainly debating over the 47% comment made my Governor Romney at a private Republican fundraiser. Romney claimed that nearly half of America felt they were entitled to things like food, housing and healthcare, and victimized themselves. Deval Patric started off a bit off point criticizing Romney's tax returns and what he actually plans to do with all the taxpayers' money. When asked if she agreed with Romney on the statement, Kelly Ayotte said she "sees what the Governor sees." She believes too many people must rely on food stamps, and the unemployment rate is outrageous. She says she has campaigned with Romney and knows he cares about every single American, and is reaching out to get everyone work. Patrick rebuttals by saying there are so many people on food stamps because we are in such a terrible economy, and what Obama and America are focusing on is strengthening that economy. Ayotte says the President tried, but his policies failed, and all the Democrats have brought us in unemployment. She says Obama has not been "the uniting force we need to get things done." Patrick says, that Mitt Romney's policies have also shown themselves to fail, referring to the trickle-down policy. He says the president has shown he can make change, and the country has been "brought back from the bring of depression."
The results of this debate could influence a change to Obama's policy since some people may have seen his first term as a failure, but it could also cause Romney to change around his tactics so that they'd seem more promising. I learned that the unemployment rate is higher among young people than it is nationally, according to Deval Patrick. I could use the information in this show to see the Republican view on things, and why they think Obama has failed in the past 4 years. Deval Patrick is an Obama supporter while Kelly Ayotte is advocating Governor Romney. David Gregory makes an effort to ask questions pertaining to both the Democratic and Republican parties. The information in this show brings in a spokesperson from each political party for their view on the "47%" and the "role of government," getting a more elaborate analysis on the sate our economy is in and what the presidential candidates are working towards.

This article goes into some detail about the nerve-racking days before the election. It's crunch time for both candidates, and they are going across the country preaching their plans to people in the battleground states. Obama is focused on building a "strong middle class" and saying Mitt Romney is not change, while Romney and his campaign say that Obama would reuse his old tactics in his second term. The election is very close, many polls show Romney and Obama's numbers to be split right down the middle. Pennsylvania was a big stop on Romney's trail. The state hasn't been Republican since 1988. Mitt's running mate Paul Ryan stopped in Pittsburgh while Romney spoke in Philadelphia suburbs. Bill Clinton was also along side Obama on some of his stops. Mitt Romney stopped in Boston for election day, while Obama headed back to Chicago.
This is a crucial time for both candidates and undecided voters. The information in this article gives people a look at what both Romney and Obama have to say and what matters most, days before the election. I learned tat Pennsylvania hasn't gone red in an election since 1988. I could use this information to finalize who I want to vote for and why because I believe the candidates want to get out their strongest words during their closing statements. The author of this article takes a neutral position, and talks about both candidates' viewpoints. What Mitt Romney and Barack Obama say to people right before their election is what they leave their supporters and undecided voters with, which could potentially make or break them in the election.

"Romney: Country Shouldn't Go 'Forward' On Obama's Path"
by Tony Leys
DesMoineRegister.com/Iowa Politics
October 29, 2012
Tony Ley's article is about one of Romney's recent rallies in Davenport, Iowa. He criticizes Obama's well-known slogan "Forward." He claims, if reelected, Obama will lead Obama in the wrong direction. Romney talks to his cheering fans about how much energy they give him, and continues to make promises about improving education, creating jobs, and putting a stop to taxes on middle-income Americans and small business owners. Yet, as much as he reiterates, he doesn't go into detail at all about how he's going to do these things. The article also talks about how Mitt's rallies will come to a stop for some time to show respect to those experiencing the damage done by Hurricane Sandy. Romney later talked about how Obama said you "can only change Washington from the outside." However, Romney claims he knows how to change it from the inside, by "reaching over the aisle" in the election to Democrats, but still doesn't explain how he will actually do this. Erin Seidler, Obama spokeswoman from the Iowa campaign says Romney never "reached over the aisle" to work with Democrats during his time as Massachusetts governor like he said he did, nor did he speak his mind to the big Republican figures, instead he humored them so they'd like what he had to say. Romney has also began to reference encouraging words from TV show, Friday Night Lights. Speakers like the former wrestling coach from University of Iowa spoke before Romney.
The information in this article shows why some Republicans like Romney, he talks about how much his supporters mean to him and throws them upbeat words and slogans. However, for democrats, or potential democrats like me, it causes skepticism about how Romney actually plans do to the things he says he'd do as president. He never seems to elaborate on how he plans to get America on the "right path." I learned that Romney's campaign stopped his rally trip in order to respect those struggling with the hurricane damage and I thought that was absolutely the right thing to do, president or not. I would use this information to back up why I don't see Romney as a promising president, he never backs up his points. The author, Tony Leys, doesn't take a clear position in this article, he just reports on the rally. I believe this article could cause critics to interrogate Romney about how exactly he plans to solve the problems in America, just like I would. Romney says good things, but it seems like he has no information and no plan to fall back on.

"Springsteen Sings Support For Obama At Rally In Oakland"
by Ann Rodgers
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
October 27th, 2012
This article describes rally in Oakland for Obama supporters and "believers." Bruce Springsteen was there to perform and advocate the incumbent. He said, "You have to believe the world is open to change, open to petition, open to argument." The rally was not supposed to necessarily to sway undecided voters, but to turn "believers into activists." The point was to encourage democrats to be more proactive in their position as voters and Obama supporters. People at the rally were even given packets of local people to call to inform them on why Obama is the right choice, resulting in 20,000 calls before the rally happened.
The information in this article could potentially cause more people to lean towards the Democratic party because Obama and his campaign are encouraging people to be so involved. I learned that Bruce Springsteen is a democrat and is so dedicated that he performed at a rally for him. i find it very brave when celebrities share their political views, because it opens them up to all types of criticism. The author doesn't take a clear stance, the article is strictly about Obama's rally. This could end up in Springsteen being featured in many more Obama ads on television and possibly more rallies.

"'Democrats For Romney' At Colorado Rally"
by Shushannah Walshe and Emily Friedman
Washington Times
October 24th, 2012
In this article one of Romney's rallies in Colorado is briefly described. Romney supporters gathered at Red Rocks Amphitheater, including "Democrats for Romney." Romney was pleased to see these people show up. He discussed how he and his running mate Paul Ryan have in common that they both want to "get the job done" by reaching out to not just Republicans, but to Democrats and Independents too. He claims that people should support him if they want "real change" and "real recovery."
This article could convince people that Romney is open to what everyone's opinion is. The way I see it, is that in the long run Mitt Romney can say he wants to work together to form solutions to America's problems with the ideas of Republicans, Democrats and Independents all together, but if that were possible why would the parties be so divided in the first place. It just doesn't seem plausible. "Democrats for Romney" is like "Jews for Jesus," how exactly does it work?
Walshe and Friedman seem to just be reporting on the rally, and don't take a clear stance.

"Pennsylvania U.S. Senate Race Suddenly Competitive, Expensive"
by Marc Levy, Associated Press
SFGate, San Francisco Chronicle
October 21st, 2012
This article talks about the close and competitive race between Bob Casey and Tom Smith, the two are running for Pennsylvania U.S. Senate. Bob Casey let up on his campaigning, giving Tom Smith room to come in and "plant seeds of doubt over the outcome of the debate." It's apparent that Tom Smith has had more television ads and more money for advertising and rallies in the upcoming weeks before the election, yet Levy still reports on how his plans would take America down the wrong road. He discusses how Casey is in favor of raising income taxes because it means those who are wealthier will have to pay more, as well as increasing minimum wage. According to Smith's plans, he would be against both of these points. He is completely against any increase on income tax, even on the wealthy and would repeal the health care law.
This article is really advocating Bob Casey and attacking Tom Smith more than anything. It is also updating voters on what both candidates' viewpoints are. Marc Levy definitely seems to be on Casey's side.

"Voters Say Obama Beat Romney In Second Debate"
by Andy Sullivan
Reuters
October 17th, 2012
This article talks about both candidates' numbers in the polls after the first presidential debate and before the second one. Romney gave the better performance in the first debate, which brought his numbers up in the polls. However voters said Obama gave a much more aggressive and effective approach in the second one, bringing the incumbent's popularity back up. Voters became a bit more confident in Obama's ability to manage the economy and take back the position as president. Even though Mitt Romney had a surge of improvement after the first debate, it was said that his rate was already decreasing before the second debate took place. This still puts a thin line between the two candidates. Reuters pollster, Julia Clark says, "This was always going to be a very close election and that's back where we are now."
This article says that in the long run, the presidential debates "rarely affect the outcome of presidential elections." I would've thought the opposite. I always believed they would affect the election greatly because it gave voters a chance to hear and see the candidate's talk about the country's issues live, and give them a clear way to differ between each one's views.
Sullivan seems to be leaning towards the Democrats but it is not clear.

"Sesame Street Urges Obama Campaign To Drop Big Bird Ad" 10/9
Sesame Street Urges Obama Campaign To Drop Big Bird Ad
by BBC News (U.S.)
BBC News
October 9th, 2012
This article is all about the Obama campaign's latest and most famous ad, starring the beloved Big Bird from Sesame Street. In the first presidential debate, Mitt Romney said he'd cut funding for organizations like PBS which NPR (National Public Radio), which includes Sesame Street. The ad made fun of Romney, saying that he was focusing irrelevant things. The Sesame Workshop, claimed they were not involved in any campaigns, nor were they behind any particular candidate, and they asked for the ad o be taken down. Ben Labolt, an Obama spokesman said, "the campaign was considering the request." Kevin Madden, a Romney spokesman, said he found it concerning that the President was focusing on such silly things, like Big Bird, with the election was so close. Polls showed that Romney led 49% to Obama's 47% for likely voters, but Obama led in the same poll for registered voters.
This article could be critical for swing voters in that it shows what Romney is willing to cut and what his spending priorities are, but it also shows the Obama campaign focusing on a single comment and attacking Romney for it. The author of this article is neutral, only reporting on the article and what the Sesame Workshop had to say about it.
People who were considering voting for Romney may not be in favor of his potential spending and cutting, but potential Obama voters might not like that the campaign was singling out Romney's statement with the election coming up.

"High Drama In Fight For Colorado"
by Thomas Fitzgerald, Inquirer Politics Writer
The Philadelphia Inquirer
October 8th, 2012
This article goes into detail about how Colorado, which has almost always been a red state, is becoming a major swing state in this election. It starts out with two women: Maria Matos, a 39-year-old Hispanic mother working in a burger shop, while pursuing a master's in education, who plans to vote for Obama, despite his "flat" performance in the first presidential debate, and Hilary Huston, a registered Republican at a low-paying job, who agrees with Romney's 47% statement, and believes American has put too much power in China's hands. They both have valid arguments, and show Colorado's conflict in the election on a smaller scale. Besides in Clinton's election, Colorado has always gone Republican. However, the state's Hispanic and college-educated populations have recently increased, two demographics that are crucial to Obama's campaign. Despite voting Republican in most presidential elections, the state has elected many Democratic senators and governors.
This article is a clear example of a swing state and why the vote is so split down the middle. Fitzgerald's stance in the election is not shown int his article. This article also shows why both presidential candidates have down thousands of events and rallies in Colorado, striving to win the state over.

"Romney Maintains Poll Momentum"
by Nate Silver
The New York Times
October 6th, 2012
In this article, Nate Silver talks about Romney's recent improvements in many of the polls, especially after the Presidential debate in Denver. Before the debate on Wednesday, Romney had a 15% chance of winning the Electoral College, it jumped to 20% on Thursday. Silver reports that he'll have a good chance of winning if he keeps improving over the next couple of days. There were five nation tracking polls that were published on Saturday, including the Gallup poll, the RAND Corporation online tracking poll, and Rassmussen report. Four out of these five either showed Romney leading Obama, or major improvements in his numbers. Many of these polls referred to likely voters. Considering the polls were for swing voters and they were reporting from the day right after the debate, it was said that the they were very sensitive, explaining Romney's remarkable gains. Silver says it's still too soon to tell how long Romney's improvement s will last.
This article shows how each candidates' performance at the debate affected their numbers in the polls, and how much swing voters can really impact the election as a whole. Silver doesn't seem to take a clear stance, but might be leaning towards Romney.

"Which Mitt Romney Do You Trust?"
by John Dickerson
Slate.com
October 5th, 2012
John Dickerson's asks, "which Mitt Romney do you trust?" The article implies that Mitt Romney has flip-flopped with his stance, making it challenging for voters to get a clear view on his policy and what he would do fro America. His infamous "47%" comment landed him in the middle of endless criticisms and skepticism among voters. Romney later reported to fox that he was "completely wrong." This leads to the question of whether he would have declared if his statement completely wrong if that video wasn't recorded and leaked. Dickerson claims that Mitt Romney makes it hard for voter's to decide if they can trust him; is he the man we see at the debate, or the one in the video?
John Dickerson seems to be criticizing Mitt Romney more than anything. The information in this article shows how Romney does not make it very clear on what he believes in because seems to always be changing his words for whoever is in front of him. This may make him look dishonest in the eyes of undecided voters.

"The Media Is Ignoring Romney's Strength With Independents" 9/28
"The Media Is Ignoring Romney's Strength With Independents"
by Mary Kate Cary
U.S. News
September 28th, 2012
In this article, Mary Kate Cary talks about how Obama's support in the major popular vote is the only things being broadcasted by the media, when there is a lot about independent voters that is being ignored. In the 2008 election Obama won many independent votes in the margin of error, giving him the win. A CNN poll from earlier in the month showed that while Obama was in the lead of the overall vote, Romney lead with a 54% of independent voters, compared to Obama's 40%. What was not in the news was that polls show that independent voters in two major swing states, Ohio and Florida, the percentage of independent voters in general has risen from 25 to 43.
Gallup polls show that two-thirds of independent voters said "is trying to do too many things that should be left to individuals and businesses." This is the opposite of what two-thirds of the democratic party think.
Mary Kat Cary seems to be on the Republican side of things but makes the most evident criticism at the end of the article when she claims that this type of information wasn't broadcasted in the media on purpose.
This information shows people how the democrats may not have the election as "in the bag" as they some may have thought. "Swing voters" can make a big difference in how the election turns out.

"Mitt Romney Losing Support Among Older Voters" 9/24
"Mitt Romney Losing Support Among Older Voters"
by David Morgan
Huffington Post
September 24th, 2012
This article explains that Romney's popularity is decreasing among older voters, mostly ranging 60 years and over. Pollster analyst, Julia Clark, says these are the people that always turn up to vote. Seniors are usually the ones backing the Republican candidate because of their promises with Medicare and the costs of health insurance, so seeing such a dip in their support for Romney is a "game changer" for the Democrats. Romney's running mate, Paul Ryan, was even booed as he gave a speech at an AARP convention in New Orleans. Senior voters are mostly the reason the U.S. House of Representatives was elected Republican. Since Obama has women, minority, and young voters mostly on his side, it is crucial for Romney to gain all the support he can of older Americans.
I could use the information in this article to find out why the people who vote for Democrats and why the people who vote for Republicans do so, because this article tells me many of the people who voted Republican in the past did because they liked what they heard about health insurance and Medicare and those things concern them more than others.
Although this article is about the bad direction Romney's campaign could e headed in, David Morgan doesn't seem to be on any particular side through the text. He's just reporting on recent polls.
This kind of article may influence Romney and his running mate to reconsider some of their plans, considering some of the regularly consistent voters aren't too happy with the current situation.

"Mitt's Likability Problem" 9/21
"Mitt's Likability Problem"
by John Avlon
The Daily Beast
September 21st, 2012
The article "Mitt's Likability Problems" discusses how so many people, whether it's regarding his politics or his personality, just flat out don't like Mitt Romney. John Avlon starts off by describing the "camaraderie" that seems to come naturally among politicians. No matter how much they may disagree on their policies and opinions, they always come out shaking hands in the end. However this time around it seems as though all of Romney's fellow politicians, democrat and republican, distance themselves from him when the race is over. Mitt Romney is said to not be much of a people person, and this is because of his approach on politics as if it were a business. Instead of being focused on his one way of fixing things, or his own unique policies, he "panders" his words for specific audiences. This brings up the question on whether Romney actually meant what he said about the "47%" or if he was just pleasing the audience he was speaking to at the moment. Avlon also explains how some conservative figures including columnist Bill Kirstol and Republican Senate nominees Scott Brown and Linda McMahon disassociated themselves from Romney quickly after these comments were made, showing that his negative impression was not made strictly on democrats.
The information in this article could help undecided voters figure out which side they're leaning towards because it gives them a perspective of Romney's personality. The most important thing when it comes to a presidential candidate is their policy and how they are going to improve the country but it also helps a lot to know what kind of person they are, and this article shows people how Romney is seen by his fellow politicians.
John Avlon seems to be part of the democratic party. He explains he believes Romney is still a good guy "deep down," but still thinks he has taken the wrong approach on politics and is not good president material because he is unable to have a stable stand on his policies.

"In Crucial First Debate, Scott Borwn Challenges Warren's Native American Heritage Claim" 9/20
In Crucial First Debate, Scott Borwn Challenges Warren's Native American Heritage Claim
by Martin Finucane, Globe Staff
Boston.com
September 20th, 2012
This article delves into the tense and heated first U.S. Senatorial debate between Republican Scott Brown and Democrat Elizabeth Warren. With Jon Keller as moderator, the two shot back and forth about issues like abortion, raising and cutting taxes, but the most controversial subject was Warren's claim to have a Native American heritage.
Warren explained that she discovered her family's history through stories told by relatives. She also informed us that her father's parents apparently didn't approve of his and her mother's wedding because she wast part Cherokee. Brown accused Warren of using her heritage to move up in her career as a successful Harvard professor. Warren then shot back saying that Professor Charles Fried had no idea about her Native American ancestry when he gave her the job. Brown continued to press the fact that Warren refused to show proper documentation of her heritage.
The two fiercely debated about who would be lowering or raising more taxes, and women's rights. This debate could really help voters choose who they want in the U.S. Senate. However, just reading this article showed me how agressive both candidates are, so it could be a tough choice, it all depends on what the voters feel strongly about. I learned about something called the Blunt Amendment, which "would allow health plans and employers to refuse to pay for
contraception and other medical services if they have a religious or
moral objection." I don't think it's fair that just because the head of a health plan or an employer doesn't believe in birth control or abortion, they get to deprive those under them who do. Considering Scott Brown was a cosponsor of this amendment, I would definitely take this into consideration if I was voting.
The author of this article definitely seems neutral. Instead of taking sides, Finucane focuses on just summarizing the debate and getting both candidate's arguments in the air. I could see this article having an impact on the political arena today because it shows Scott's more conservative views, and Warren's emphasis on middle class families and women's rights, breifly showing both candidates important view points.

"Republican Fantasyland" 9/15/2012
Republican Fantasyland
by Joe Klein
TIME
September 15th, 2012
In this article, Joe Klein discusses the ridiculous Republican statements that were made about Obama and his plans. Klein quotes Fred Barnes in the Weekly Standard: "His (Obama's) foreign policy initiatives — curbing Iran’s nuclear weapons program, improving America’s position in the Middle East, fostering better relations with Russia — have failed" and "his domestic policies are unpopular." Klein then goes on to criticize how so many have fallen onto the bandwagon of "hateful, radical Fox-Rush siren" that the republican party's stance has turned into.
It is clear that many republicans see no good out of Barrack Obama being reelected because they have been fed such an exaggerated and unappealing view on the incumbent. However, Klein shares the opinion of a republican strategist: "Jon Stewart was right. We’re running a Clint Eastwood campaign, running against a version of Barack Obama that doesn’t exist." This goes to show that even some republicans have realized that their party's leaders have twisted their traditional viewpoints so that they denigrate Obama.
If I were old enough to vote in the coming election, I would most definitely take this information into consideration. I could potentially use this article to decide on whether to go democratic or republican.
Joe Klein clearly takes the democratic side. He points out that Obama has had made mistakes and everything hasn't gone as planned in the past four years, but he also compares the republican party to "demons" who need to be exorcised "before it rejoins the American mainstream." This article could sway people to vote democrat but it could also help some realize how the republican party has altered their stance to focus in on the negatives, some existent and some not, of Obama and his presidency.

"Southern bias against the rich, Mormons could hurt Romney" 9/11/2012
Southern bias against the rich, Mormons could hurt Romney
By James Rainey
September 11th, 2012
Los Angeles Times
This article discusses how Mitt Romney being mormon can negatively affect his popularity in the polls. A Reuters/Ipsos survey was given to middle and lower-class caucasian citizens in the South. It's usually assumed that white people from this region are quick to vote republican. That may be true, but this recent poll shows that some Southern whites may consider voting for Obama because they'd rather not vote for someone who is "very wealthy" or grew up "filthy rich." Instead, some say that Obama focuses more on those in need. Although it may not be their ideal choice, many of these people in the Bible Belt say they'd vote for an African American before voting for a mormon.
This seems to be upping the Democratic vote in the region of the U.S. that is always thought to be predominantly Republican. I found that many more people then I would think involved their religious beliefs in deciding who to vote for. I had no idea there was a large enough group of citizens to shift some of the South's vote to Democrat. I could use this information to study the changes in the majority vote of the South throughout the years. I could also find out what is most important to people when choosing who to represent the country.
Rainey doesn't seem to take sides in the article. Although the article describes a negative impact on Romney's campaign, James Rainey seems to speaking with somewhat neutral voice.
Mitt Romney's being mormon could easily, and seems to already have, put a detrimental effect on his campaign especially in the south, more specifically the "Bible Belt." This issue could cause a significant shift in white Southern republicans to white Southern democrats.
